Abbot Hill completed this residential exterior upgrade in Naples, Florida, transforming an outdated window wall into an expansive, modern entryway. The original opening featured an older jalousie-style window system made up of multiple narrow glass panels and operable sections. While historically common in older Florida properties, this configuration felt visually busy, restricted the usable opening, and limited seamless access to the outdoor patio.
To solve this, Abbot Hill replaced the existing assembly with a premium impact sliding glass door system. This conversion created a significantly larger, cleaner opening between the interior living space and the patio, flooding the home with natural light while providing effortless access to the outdoor living area and delivering an open, contemporary aesthetic.
Why convert traditional windows to sliding glass doors?
A window-to-sliding-glass-door conversion is one of the most effective structural upgrades for older Southwest Florida homes. Beyond eliminating bulky, multi-pane sightlines, modern impact glass systems provide year-round hurricane protection, enhanced thermal insulation, superior noise reduction, and UV filtering without requiring storm shutters. Most importantly, it bridges indoor and outdoor spaces to maximize the Florida lifestyle.
